Senior Staff Accountant
We are looking for a Senior Staff Accountant to oversee financial reporting and compliance for a real estate/development portfolio. This role manages critical deadlines, supports audits, handles complex property transactions, and provides daily oversight to a Staff Accountant. The position requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to operate independently in a fast-moving environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting
- Lead the month-end close process, including preparation and review of accrual-basis financials.
- Deliver monthly reporting packages to internal teams, lenders, and investors.
- Review property-level transactions for completeness and compliance.
- Monitor recurring financial deadlines such as loan payments, taxes, and insurance.
- Prepare and post recurring and accrual journal entries.
- Verify rent roll data and follow up on discrepancies.
- Review A/P aging and ensure timely reimbursement processing.
- Prepare required annual filings (571-L/571-R, CTCAC forms).
- Coordinate with lenders on reviews, escrow analyses, insurance renewals, and tax matters.
- Track developer fees, residual receipts, loan servicing charges, and similar items.
- Prepare reserve draw requests and required financial certifications.
- Maintain communication with property managers, asset managers, auditors, and lenders.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as updating procedures and organizing documentation.
- Complete special projects as assigned by leadership.
Audit & Tax Support
- Assist with audit preparation by gathering schedules, support, and documentation.
- Review draft audit reports and post adjusting entries.
- Respond to auditor inquiries within required timelines.
Leadership
- Provide day-to-day direction to a Staff Accountant.
- Review work quality, monitor productivity, and offer coaching.
- Ensure clear workflow, task assignments, and accountability.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; Accounting preferred.
- Minimum 3 years supervising accounting staff.
- 3-5 years of accounting experience; real estate/property management preferred.
- Experience with Yardi or similar property management software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Office 365.
